Dr. Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme, the #1 magician of Marvel and the protector of time itself.

Origin

Dr. Stephen Strange, M.D., is a selfish doctor who only cares about wealth from his career. After a car accident shatters the bones in his hands, he is unable to perform surgery when his hands begin to tremble uncontrollably. He desperately searches for a way to restore his hands and exhausts his funds in the process.

Depressed and still searching, Strange comes to know about hermit called the Ancient One (who was actually the Earth's Sorcerer Supreme then) in the Himalayas, who can cure any ailment. Strange uses the last of his funds to seek the mystic.


The Ancient One refuses to help Strange because of his arrogance, but offered to teach him in mysticism to which he refused. He fails, but Strange's heroism appears when he discovers the Ancient One's disciple, Baron Mordo, attempting to kill the old man. After a confrontation, Mordo uses restraining spells preventing him from either attacking Mordo or warning the Ancient One. Amazed by these displays of magic, Strange desperately and selflessly accepts the Ancient One's offer to become his apprentice. Pleased at Strange's sincere change of heart, he accepts it and promptly frees him from the restraining spells while explaining he was aware of Mordo's treachery all along.

After completing his training, Strange returns to New York City and takes up residence within the Sanctum Sanctorum assisted by Wong who had served the Ancient One for a long time. They both soon became friends.

Doctor Stephen Strange is Marvel’s flagship character who deals in the magical side of Marvel Universe.

Before he put on the cloak, Stephen Stange was a gifted neurosurgeon, but was extremely selfish and only cared about the wealth he reaped from his career. After a car accident damaged the nerves in his hands and went into depression. He deals with it by traveling to the ancient Himalyas and uncovering a realm of mystery and magic. He was trained in magic and sorcery and once his training was complete, Strange became Earth’s new Sorcerer Supreme.

Doctor Strange was created by the writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko and made his first ever appearance in Strange Tales #110 in 1963.

Master Sorcerer - Doctor Strange is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world. He has ability to tap into the mystical energy invoked upon by spells/incantations or by the power of divine beings. This power helps him to manipulate forces of the universe. This includes projection of mystic energy as bolts, slashes, binds, shields, or a scattered array of energy appearing like electricity.

Magical Artifacts - The Sorcerer Supreme has a huge possession of magical artifacts. The most important of them are the Eye of Agamotto and the Cloak of Levitation. The Eye of Agamotto extends Dr. Strange's psychic abilities, inter dimensional travel, emitting a light that pierces all deception and is anathema to evil beings, serving as a protective talisman, and other feats. It can be used as an almost irresistible offensive weapon, though Strange rarely does so.

Marvel Studios announced the upcoming movie of Doctor Strange, to be released on the 4th of November 2016 (USA theaters) / 25 October (UK theaters), the movie is about the hero character “Doctor Strange”, a superhero who uses magic as his super power, the character is familiar to comics’ fans, and it was created by the Steve Ditko along with the legendary comics` writer and creator Stan Lee.
